Hoover Dam
Editorial Photography Series
Documenting Hoover Dam during a landmark year; the first full season after the Mike O'Callaghan, Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge rerouted U.S. Route 93 traffic away from the dam's crest for the first time in its history. The series moves between sweeping views of the dam's curved face and canyon setting to intimate details: the Art Deco intake towers, the teal water at their base, and the pale "bathtub ring" along Lake Mead's walls quietly marking years of drought. Shot to accompany an editorial piece on the dam's 2011 milestones and its enduring place in the American West.
